Dear Black People with Children in Public Schools

Dear Black People, 

Black people in public schools should be getting more than a Black face on the school board and a Black principal who manages the gate of the plantation fields known as public schools in America for Black people. 

"Make America Great Again" are the new "White Only" signs that Black children of this generation will always remember.  

Black children, who are not only victimized but criminalized all while being indoctrinated by systemic racism in classrooms. We all should be pissed off about the continued poor performance of public schools in America. 

And yes, the mistreatment of Black children in public schools isn't just from white teachers. It even happens from teachers who look like us. Those who haven't gone through training programs that prepare them to socially engagement Black children from the poorest communities to working class communities. This is why I believe more colleges and universities need to partner with the Center for Black Educator Development and Profound Gentlemen. 

I said recently stated on our podcast, Talk Dat Real Sh!t, that "there are Blacks who still can be bought and silenced to help destroy our own." 

But aren't we tired of our children, our people being bought and sold in white supremacy? 

We teach Black children to dignify people as oppose to promise. This attributes to Black politicians, entertainers, preachers and leaders are too often placed on high pedestals that we lose sight on the vision, the call to action, the need for change. 

Black people in public schools should be getting more than a Black face on the school board and a Black principal who mans the gate of the plantation fields known for us as Black people, public schools in America. ed  we have to stop depending on others to do the work that needs to be done protect our children. 

Black parents are in a constant state of worry. Not just against common threats such as accidents or illness. They worry about child abduction, gang violence, crime, sexual assault, bullying, Black children need to be better protected. 

It's a lot to protect our Black children from, a lot to fight at one time; but they are worth it. 

Many Black children go to public schools to trauma each day in public schools that are:

• filled with pipes disbursing lead water to our children 
• not equipped state of the art technology 
• not forward thinking with discipline and behavior models 
• passing our children along to the next grade with academic deficiencies 

Black parents and children deserve better educational outcomes. 

2020 is deeper than the pandemic. Moral reckoning of this country from the Civil War and Reconstruction, to Civil Rights and black freedom has resurfaced now again as we demand social justice and that Black lives matter. 

Public schools aren't teaching our children about this. Ask your family members and friends who learned about Juneteenth in school. Many teachers don't even know about Black Wall Street, Black owned and built towns in America, the first Black elected officials before reconstruction to teach it. 

The liberation of Black children in this generation lies in what they are being taught. Our liberation is embedded in education.

What do they know about their history and place in this world? What do they know and understand about systemic racism? What do they know about the freedom fighters who sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy now? 

I'm empowering Black parents to demand culturally inclusive curriculum in schools. 

• Demand the funding formula for public schools be strengthen and improved.
• Demand that school policies are not bias against Black children.
• Demand educational equity for Black children by changing what's been taught and how we're preparing teachers to teach it! 

We must demand and ensure that Black children receive better educational outcomes now!
