Simply Surviving 2020 and the Pandemic Wasn't Enough for White Privilege!
But simply surviving 2020 and the pandemic wasn't enough.
Black people are walking into work every day, at home confined due to illness or protection from the virus.
The souls of Black folks have been aching for centuries. From our birth and throughout our lives, we are no stranger to pain. Black people are fighting to breath, exist and simply walk down the street while being Black.
Some researchers have stated that trauma can be passed down within our family linage. But we don't talk about generational curses and what it actually looks like for Black people.
In 2021, I want more Black folks to normalize conversations around wellness physically, spiritually, emotionally and even financially.
Balancing our existence in a society that is working against our success, freedoms and liberties is more than just exhausting.
What's working for Black folks I know who survived and are working to thrive in 2021 is to:
- find moments to embrace joy
- spend more time celebrating what we have and not complaining
- investing with our own
- holding each other accountable in Love
- do what we can while we can
