#TDRSplus - "Celebrating Black 365" Episode

. . . each week I'll be featuring what I call #TDRSplus, weekly here on my blog. Continuing to call Black people to action and of course to keep talking dat real sh*t!

Our podcast is like the red table talks meets the breakfast club of education. 

Talk Dat Real Sh!t, hosted by Tanesha Peeples, Nehemiah Frank and I, is focused on liberating Black minds and calling forth collective change for the betterment of Black people. 

So in short, we are not here to play with these trolls working to take away the liberties and freedoms owed to our children and generations of Black Americans to come!

So let's get into the latest episode of TDRS. First and foremost, I most acknowledge the sacrifices of our ancestors. I salute those of us each day showing up in spaces and representing our culture in ways that our ancestors imagined. 

We had to history makers on the show. Dr. Tarece Johnson because a degreed, educated Black, Jewish woman on the Gwinnett County School Board. But Dr. Johnson is an activist and believer in the people. 

She has been on the ground lifting her voice for change in spaces across spectrums of education, health care, criminal justice and others. 

But don't miss what was said in between the lines on #TDRS... 

Dr. Johnson as well as the first Black, Asian elected to the board along with the first Black, openly gay male are under attack. The long standing incumbent who won against Tanisha Banks, special education teacher and recent candidate, supporters are trying to impose policies in attempts to remove the Black board members from their post. 

Monday's show didn't just honor the history but focused on the current activism work of Dr. Tarece. Most important it shed light on what we must support candidates before, during and after elections. 

This is why our podcast is so important. We are not only bringing awareness to activists voices on the grounds but calling Black minds to action!
